Exclusive Caterer
SMG maintains the exclusive right to provide all food and beverage, including catered events and concession outlets in the facilities and offer a complete range of services to meet your food and beverage needs. Food and beverages are not allowed to be brought into the facilities by you or your guests. Please contact our Food and Beverage Department regarding menu planning information for your event.

To assure that all food and beverage items will be available, a signed Catering Sales Order with the appropriate deposit should be on file in the Food and Beverage Department 14 days prior to the function date.

Due to our insurance regulations, leftover food and / or beverages may not be taken from the premises. At the conclusion of the function such food becomes the property of the Food and Beverage Department. For information call (562) 499-7565.

Sampling Guidelines
Below are the sampling guidelines for any and all food & beverage for exhibitors and shows, which normally serve or produce in the ordinary course of their business food and beverage items. These guidelines are detailed in the contract signed with SMG/Long Beach Convention Center and the Event Planning Guide provided when show(s) are booked.
Exhibitors may exhibit only merchandise which they normally serve or produce in the ordinary course of their business and may only distribute such quantities that are reasonable in regards to the purpose of promoting the merchandise. Food service exhibitors may distribute food samples in your authorized space only and must not be in competition with products or services offered by the Food and Beverage Department. Free samples are limited to 2 ounces of non-alcoholic beverages and 1 ounce of food. Exact descriptions of sample and portion size must be submitted to the Food and Beverage Department for written approval 14 days prior to the opening of the event. Any exhibitor of show who will be sampling or selling food must have a Long Beach Health permit. Please call the Long Beach Health Department at (562) 570-4135.

Alcoholic Beverages
All alcoholic beverage sampling must be coordinated by the Food and Beverage Department and must be served by an SMG Food & Beverage licensed bartender. A corkage fee per bottle will apply. Alcoholic beverages will not be served to minors or to persons who appear intoxicated. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the exhibit halls during decorator or exhibitor move-in and move-out for any event. The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center reserves the right to terminate the service of alcoholic beverages if your event is in violation of Federal, State, County or City laws relating to the service of alcoholic beverages.

Water Service
During meetings, the speaker's podium and head table will be provided with complimentary ice water service by the Event Operations Department at your request. Water stations for attendees or for exhibit show floors are subject to additional charges and must be coordinated through the Food and Beverage Department. Exhibitors or shows distributing bottled water with company or organization logo on bottle are subject to corkage fees. Contact the Food and Beverage department for further details.

Hospitality Catering
All food, beverage and / or alcoholic beverages must be provided through the Food and Beverage Department. Please contact the Food and Beverage sales staff for any type of hospitality catering you wish to have arranged.

Food and Beverage Sales Staff
The Food and Beverage sales staff provides high quality catering and concession services on an exclusive basis within the facility.The Food and Beverage sales staff is responsible for coordinating all your requirements concerning:

Banquets
Coffee and Refreshment Service
Water Service
Concessions / Cafeteria
Booth Catering
Food & Beverage Sampling /Booth Promotion
Health Permits

GENERAL SERVICES
The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center offers a variety of services to assure the success of your event from start to finish. The following is a description of some of these services.

Business Center
A Business Center is available for selected trade shows and conventions. The Business Center will provide the following services:

  • Copy Service
  • Facsimile Service
  • Overnight Letters
  • Sundries
 

Event Services
A highly trained staff of Event Attendants and Housekeeping personnel are provided to facilitate the necessary setup of equipment and cleanup during your event. These employees will be specifically assigned to your event and will be immediately available to meet your needs.

ON SITE SERVICES
Audio/Visual Services
Projection, Inc. is the Convention Center’s on-site audio / visual supplier. They are a full service company specializing in meetings, conventions, trade shows and special events.

Projection, Inc. controls the facilities meeting room house sound systems. They maintain an extensive inventory of equipment to facilitate last minute requests. They can supply equipment ranging from traditional audio / visual to production quality sound and lights, video projection and computers.

Booth & Aisle Carpet Cleaning
For exhibit shows, the facility provides on-site booth cleaning services. These services are provided on a subcontract basis through your general service contractor or direct through your Event Manager.

Business Center
The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center operates the Business Center for selected trade and consumer shows as a service to show management, exhibitors and attendees of the event.The Business Center operation offers copying, faxing and overnight letters, and will send out your business card and printing needs.For more information and advance orders call (562) 499-7565.

Equipment Rental
The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center has a limited inventory of equipment available for rent. A listing of this equipment is available through your Event Manager. Arrangements for rental and availability of this equipment will be made by your Event Manager.

Concessions and Catering
Catering and concession services are provided throughout the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center by our in-house Food and Beverage Department. Catered meal service is available for groups of 10 to 6,000.

Please contact our Food and Beverage Department for information regarding food arrangements, operation of restaurant, bar and concession stands. Should your event require special lunches and banquets, the Food and Beverage sales staff will be happy to furnish complete information.

For your information, concerning distribution of food by Licensees, the following Center rules and regulations apply:

1. Food or drink is to be sold at the Center only by our food and Beverage Department.
2. Licensee can distribute only food or drink samples incidental to their event with prior consent from our Food and Beverage Department.
3. Licensee desiring to provide food or drink not incidental to their event must purchase these items from the contracted food concessionaire of the Convention Center under conditions approved by the Director of Food and Beverage.
 

First Aid Stations
We maintain completely furnished first aid stations in the Arena and Exhibition Halls. An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required in the Facility during all event hours. The EMT is also available during move-in and move-out days at your request. Cost for EMT services are billed to you through your Event Manager.

In-Booth Security
Our event security department can provide in-booth security service for your exhibitors. For more information call (562) 499-7591.

Lost and Found
All lost and found articles are logged and placed at our Lost and Found Department located at the Security Office. We attempt to identify the owner and return all lost articles. To inquire about lost items, call ext. 525 from a house phone or (562) 499-7525 from outside the facilities.

Marquee
The marquee at the facility is set at no charge. When there are multiple events at the facility at one time, it will be necessary to share the marquee. Please ask your Event Manager for a marquee request form.

TECHNICAL SERVICES
Stagehands
The Center contracts professional non-union technical service personnel. The following policies have been adopted for the mutual protection of the facility and its employees as well as the licensee, their staff and performers.

Any questions regarding your event should be directed to your Event Manager. Specific questions concerning the staffing, call times and technical requirements for your event should be directed to the Theatrical Stage Manager.

Minimum Call
All Technical Service personnel have a minimum four (4) hour call. If more than a ninety minute break is given during a call, the four hour minimum is reinstituted. For minimum crew calls, please refer to the Technical Service Rider’s section concerning Basic Stagehand Requirements. You may obtain a copy of the rider through your Event Manager.

Labor Rates
The Licensee will be billed for each stagehand at their current base rate for the first eight (8) hours. Current labor rates are included in the rental packet. Billing will be on the quarter (1/4) hour. Questions concerning the labor rates should be directed to your Event Manager.

Rigging
Any rigging done in the facility is subject to approval by the facility, and must be done by our building stagehands. Any rigging done without prior building knowledge must be removed and re-rigged at Licensee’s cost. You may refer to the Technical Rider provided by your Event Manager for any additional information.
